Let’s create something REAL together

Who?

I’m Neil Viccars, a Print Production Specialist with over 30 years’ experience across all types of print, packaging, and direct mail for global brands delivering to the highest standard of quality and creativity.

Physical, tangible reflections of a brand are becoming ever more popular as the online world gets bombarded by poor AI output. People crave real connection. Print production is back in a big way and a lot of organisations don’t have a specialist who can bring ideas to life.

Are you unsure of the art of the possible when it comes to pitching innovative print ideas so hold back?

Do you need someone to take responsibility for quality, clarity and delivery of print projects?

Great WORK

The Boots logo

Boots
at Christmas

I managed the printed collateral at Boots the Chemists for several years. The Christmas catalogue is a key moment in the marketing calendar and sets customer anticipation for the period. This was a year-round project with planning for the next year starting at the previous year’s launch into stores.

My role was to influence and execute against all stages of the process:

Continuous innovation

Finding savings with new materials or technology.

Artwork

Oversaw all artwork and image creation, building with the correct colour profiles to match the printed and material outputs, proofing and colour testing.

Sourcing and vendor management

Timely sourcing of production and material vendors to deliver the campaign to schedule, to the best quality and to the right price.

Production

Signing off for colour on the printing press, achieving brand and colour consistency across all production methods. Timely delivery to the right distribution hubs.

Evoque Launch

As a print specialist for almost 10 years at Jaguar Land Rover my key objectives were to print and ship brochures for all vehicles across the world, using manufacturers on different continents and ensuring absolute colour and brand consistency across all products.

My role for the Range Rover Evoque launch:

Luxury brand print quality

A global new luxury vehicle launch relied on the highest quality of printed materials at every customer touchpoint.

Confidentiality was critical

Proofing of imagery and print trials for new paint colours ahead of the announcement.

Launch event moment

Creating materials last minute to be shipped to Paris for a James Bond themed event, selecting the right vendors and arranging urgent couriers to ensure everything went off without a hitch.

Global roll out

Instructing global print suppliers on the technical execution of new colourways.

The Rules of Golf

This was an extremely high profile and important project for the global golf fraternity.

Skills flexed:

Client education

The challenges were dealing with a client (Committee of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club at St Andrews) who had no regular interaction with creative or print processes but very exacting standards.

Innovation

We had to find innovative print solutions to produce the colour-work in volume, liaise with the US PGA to ensure consistency of timing and quality.

Cost control with suppliers

Ran cost analysis concluding that delivery from suppliers in Australia would provide better value and timings than printing in the UK and shipping there.
